Pink Penguin Playgroups

Pink Penguin Playgroups offer welcoming, play-based experiences where toddlers and their caregivers grow, connect, and feel a sense of belonging—together.

Pink Penguins is the playgroup program of the Newtowne School cooperative. Each week, toddlers and their caregivers explore joyful, culturally-responsive activities inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Through hands-on play, children build early social, emotional, and cognitive skills while following their curiosity and interests.

Caregivers stay and play alongside their children, strengthening relationships and sharing everyday moments of learning and joy. Playgroups meet in different spaces around Newtowne School—and sometimes outdoors—creating rich, engaging environments. Just as importantly, Pink Penguins offers caregivers a chance to connect with one another, build confidence, share resources, and feel part of a supportive cooperative community.

Who are the Pink Penguins?

Pink Penguins are toddlers in the greater Cambridge area who gather with their caregiver(s) once or twice per week at Newtowne School.

Who are the caregivers?

Pink Penguin caregivers are parents, grandparents, nannies, favorite neighbors, and more! We welcome any grownups who are special in a child’s life.
