Pink Penguin Playgroups

Pink Penguins is the playgroup part of the Newtowne School cooperative. Each week, toddlers and their caregivers explore Reggio-inspired activities that spark curiosity and joy. Caregivers stay and play alongside their children, creating moments of learning, laughter, and connection.

Playgroups meet in different spaces around Newtowne School—and sometimes outdoors—while also giving caregivers the chance to share, support one another, and build community, just as they do throughout the Newtowne cooperative.

Who are the Pink Penguins?

Pink Penguins are toddlers in the greater Cambridge area who gather with their caregiver(s) once or twice per week at Newtowne School.

Who are the caregivers?

Pink Penguin caregivers are parents, grandparents, nannies, favorite neighbors, and more! We welcome any grownups who are special in a child’s life.

Term 1 Playgroup Options

We offer classes that meet once per week or twice per week, with an early and a late morning schedule option.

8:45-10:00 - geared towards crawlers & walkers*

10:30-11:45 - geared towards climbers & jumpers*

*These are simply guidelines—every child develops at their own pace! We encourage families to choose the time that works best for their child’s energy and their family schedule.  There are no age limitations.

We want Pink Penguins to be accessible for everyone! If cost is a barrier to your family's participation, please email Director Caitlin Malloy director@newtowneschool.org for financial aid options. Partially and fully subsidized spots are available.
