Core Program
Newtowne offers programs for children ages 22 months to 5 years. Our Core Program is available for 3 or 5 days per week with options for Early Drop-off, Afternoon Program, and Summer.
Newtowne’s Core Program lasts from 8:30-12:30 Monday - Friday. Orange Sea Stars and Purple Fish have the option of attending 3 or 5 days per week, while Blue Otters and Green Dragonflies attend 5 days per week.
Children engage in a mix of Reggio Emilia-inspired indoor, outdoor, and enrichment activities and eat a snack and lunch at school with their peers. While the age cutoffs between classrooms can vary slightly from year to year, the classroom age ranges (on September 1st) are generally as follows:
Orange Sea Stars: 22 months - 2 years, 9 months
Purple Fish: 2 years, 9 months - 3 years, 5 months
Blue Otters: 3 years, 5 months, - 4 years, 0 months
Green Dragonflies: 4 years, 0 months - 5 years, 0 months
Extended Day Program
Our optional Afternoon Program lasts from 12:30-3:30 and is available to families on a regular plan or an occasional-care basis. All students at Newtowne who attend the Core Program 3-or 5-days per week have the option adding Afternoon Program for some or all of the days they attend the Core Program. Afternoon Program includes rest time, snack time, and a mix of indoor, outdoor, and enrichment activities. In previous years, mixed-classroom activities were planned for Afternoon Program; however, children only remain with their Core Program classmates and teachers in the 2023-2024 year, in accordance with COVID-19 regulations.
